Change Material Drops for End Dungeon Chests
Ever since the Voltaic Spear farming started happening, the prices for diamonds and onyx gemstones has dropped, making receiving them from other dungeon chests very unrewarding. Even if the V.S. farming run is nerfed, the market is already overflowing with these two materials, so the situation can not be corrected by a simple nerf of the run. I propose changing all the end dungeon chests to drop rare materials other than diamonds and onyx gemstones. Most of the dungeons require much time and committment to complete and getting a diamond and/or gemstone drop makes this process unappealing and thus unrewarding if I go through shards of orr and get a double drop of gemstones/diamonds, it makes me think "why did i just spend this time and energy doing this to get these weak drops that I could have gotten in a five minute v.s. run. Of course the slaver's exile chests SHOULD still drop diamonds and onyx gemstones, just all other end dungeon chests need to drop materials other than onyx and diamonds.

I'm not necessarily against this but what would you add? Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Onyx? I'd be fine with that, but really only that list. If you get pissed with a double Diamond drop now, just imagine how pissed you'd be with a Steel Ingot and Leather Square drop from a dungeon.
I also like wind fire and ice's idea of just eliminating materials from the chest period.

I don't think that would make much sense, since Diamonds and Onyx are only really used in the expansion, so they should be obtainable from the expansion.

^^ with him. If i complete my dungeon book, and get diamond/onyx gems from each dungeon then I have the ability to craft destroyer weapons that are EOTN exclusive and what EOTN is about (Destroyers attempting to take over) so it would be necessary for diamonds/onyx to drop from chests.
It is not A-Nets fault that people find farming ways that inflate Guildwars with the materials...

Onxy and Diamond already drop in fow(i think..know onxy does, not soo sure on diamond) and diamond can be made in vabbi and also drops some there and from hm bosses,so its still possible to get, removing it from dungeons and adding it to fow/uw drops like rubies/sapphires are droping from random monsters there would put them around the same as rubies/sapphires.
So,removing them from dungeons wouldnt hurt them, destroyer weapons need to go up in cost any ways, and it would fix the problem of toomany worthless drops.
If you want them possible to get in eotn, there could be a dungon split, high end and low end dungeons.
Make CoF,snowman(though it drops christmas items there could be a small chance for diamond/onxy i guess),ooze pit and any other really easy/fast ones"low end" and make others high end, lowend drops gems high end dosent, makes sense to me.

Why would destroyer weapon cost need to go up? Any particular reason?

Because there thought of as a high-end item in Anets eyes, and as they are right now you can get them for 20k/ea with out much work.
The crafter should also be changed so you can only access him after each time you beat duncan,so theres work put into destroyer weps.
Too late for any changes like that though really.

Note: Rubies/Sapphires/Diamonds can drop from any enemy. Diamonds only in NF and EN I believe though. Rubies/Sapphires have dropped in Ascalon for me in the past (no, I don't have a screen shot - I was still a bit of a noob then and didn't know how to).
Making Onyx and Diamonds like Rubies and Sapphires would be the best choice - that is removing them from dungeon chests (keep the FoW/UW chest drop for gems) but making them a small chance to drop from all enemies. Also include Onyx with the Trade Contracts.
While add it, let's add in Emeralds, Topaz, and Amethyst. And add in 3 new weapon crafters. One in Underworld (Eternal Weapons), one in Urgoz/Deep (Warden/Nightmare Weapons), and one in Dragon's Gullet that appears after completing The Titan Source (Titan Weapons). These new crafters would craft weapons that would go into the HoM, and use the (then) seven gems, along with various common materials.
Or, we can go the lazy way, and just do the first part - leaving the HoM unbalanced with weapon options (everyone may have EN to get the HoM, but not everyone likes Destroyer Weapons and has Nightfall to replace some with Tormented).

Because they are "prestige" weapons, like the Torment Weapons - and the price difference is EXTREMELY big.

According to anet, it's never to late to completely change something. Remember back in the good old days, when jade and amber didn't give you points towards your title, and now they do? And now donating to your alliance gives you 2x points. Ah, and the months and months we had of ursan c-space build before that got nerfed to oblivion. Not to mention the smiter build getting nuked after how long? And now the long anticipated hfff nerf. That crazy anet, always doing what you expect, a year after you expect it.

Wait, what? They nerfed the Perma-SF? How come I didn't know of this?
Oh right, prices went up because Favor went out, Ursan got nerfed a while ago, and the essence got nerfed, so people bought a ton of Ecto expecting them to go back to 12k like idiots and wasted about 10k waiting for the ectos go to higher up, which will never happen.
SF didn't get nerf, Perma sin is SF. Essence got nerfed, get your facts straight.
End of the world theory only takes a price on those who take "initiative to make a gain" because if people stay calm/don't do anything different, nothing will happen.

What are you smoking, chaos plains farm affected ecto prices by what? 200gp? Ectos were 5K ages before the SF buff. A handful of players wishes for ecto to go back to 10k ( ironically these are the same people that got large stacks of them due to the merchant reset ages ago) , that will never happen. A-net had various occasion to nerf/kill SF, they didn't do it, at this point we can assume no more SF nerfs will come. You know what, skill balances aren't done to fix "the economy", Anet couldn't care less about that. These occasional fixes were/are done because some things are/were ridicolous (20 minutes/10 ectos chaos plains farms etc). Besides Regina stated the celerity fix wasn't done in order to affect the UWSC, but because the item was indeed overpowered even compared to other consumables.

Honestly there is no point for destroyer items to be compared with tormented in price. Eotn has a large number of dungeons, while doa is just one huge Area. Of course you're supposed to get mats for destroyers way faster than tormented gemstones. To that add that removing diamonds from chest drops wouldn't be fair to the ppl that still have to craft their items.

I am talking about before sf had the "you do less damage" nerf before that happened ectos were around 2k then they added that and other changes and the price went back up to 5k.

Ahem that didn't happen because of SF, it happened because of people idiocy. Many players with several stacks of ectos feared a price drop thus they sold their ectos to the npcs , this way the prices effectively dropped. When the casual players noticed ectos were low, they started buying them increasing the price again. GW economy is a vicious circle, that's why no matter what happens ectos or other rare materials don't drop under certain prices and in the rare cases it happens they stay that way for a limited amount of time . Unless someone discovers a way to drop ectos in large quantities in a small amount of time (like 40/50 per hour) . You have the living example in rubies/sapphires - onyx/diamons.
Due to UWSC ectos farming is more intense than before, but ecto prices are still the same. They will be stable as long as people craft fow/use them as currency.
